What is Ofqual?
The Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqual) regulates qualifications, examinations and assessments in England.
They maintain standards and confidence in qualifications in England:
- GCSEs
- A levels
- AS levels
- vocational qualifications, including all Primo Aid qualifications
Ofqual are independent of government and report directly to Parliament.
They are responsible for making sure that:
- regulated qualifications reliably indicate the knowledge, skills and understanding students have demonstrated
- assessments and exams show what a student has achieved
- people have confidence in the qualifications that we regulate
- students and teachers have information on the full range of qualifications that we regulate
Why is it important?
By ensuring that you are undertaking Ofqual regulated qualifications, you can be sure that any current or future employers will be satisifed that you have been trained to the highest standards. Ofqual regulate the content of the course to ensure it is correct.
If you undertake any course or qualification that is not Ofqual regulated, it is not guaranteed that the content of the course is accurate, and it is definitely not guaranteed that the qualificaiton will be recognised by anybody anywhere.
Always stick to Ofqual regulated qualifications, and you can be sure you are receiving the best quality training.
