The Level 2 Award in Moving People Safely (RQF) is a regulated and nationally recognised qualification designed for those who work, or intend to work, in a role that involves assisting and moving people. It is the perfect course for those working in a variety of health and social care environments such as care homes.

Successful candidates will learn the key principles of safe handling and how to apply these in their workplace. They will also practise a range of techniques, ensuring that they leave the course confident in the safe moving and handling of people.

Who is it designed for?

The Level 2 Award in Moving People Safely (RQF) has been specifically designed for those who work, or intend to work, in a role that involves assisting and moving people. It is ideal for those working in a variety of health and social care environments such as care homes.

The Syllabus Includes:

  1. Common manual handling injuries
  2. Responsibilities of employers and employees
  3. Manual handling laws
  4. Risk assessments and risk control hierarchy
  5. Potential impact to a person if moved incorrectly
  6. Personal handling plans
  7. Ways to preserve dignity, health and safety when moving a person
  8. Manual handling and the musculoskeletal system, including:
    1. Centre of gravity
    2. Lever system
  9. Key movement principles when moving a person
  10. Unsafe manoeuvres
  11. Aids and equipment used to move people and objects:
    1. Types of aids and equipment
    2. Maintenance and requirements for testing
  12. Practical sessions:
  13. Solo moving of people and objects
  14. Team moving of people and objects
  15. Using aids and equipment

Assessment

6 x Practical assessments, 2 x Theory assessments (Multiple Choice Question Papers) and continuous formative assessment conducted throughout the course. Refresher training recommended every 3 years

Refresher Training

It is recommended that you undertake this qualification every three years in order to comply with legal and statutory requirements.
