Having a good understanding of emergency paediatric first aid is incredibly important for the safety of children and it could mean the difference between life and death.

The Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid (RQF) qualification is ideal for anyone who cares for infants and children, such as: parents, guardians, grandparents or those who have a professional involvement with infants and children and want to learn key paediatric first aid skills.

Successful candidates will learn the roles and responsibilities of the emergency paediatric first aider, and will be equipped with the skills needed to deal with a range of paediatric first aid situations, such as performing CPR and dealing with external bleeding.

Who is it designed for?

The Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid (RQF) qualification is ideal for anyone who cares for infants and children, such as: parents, guardians, grandparents or those who have a professional involvement with infants and children and want to learn key paediatric first aid skills.

The Emergency Paediatric First Aid Syllabus Includes:

  1. The roles and responsibilities of an emergency paediatric first aider
  2. Assessing an emergency situation
  3. Dealing with an unresponsive infant or child
  4. Recovery Position
  5. CPR and AED
  6. Choking
  7. Minor Injuries
  8. Bites and Stings
  9. Seizures
  10. External Bleeding
  11. Hypovolaemic shock
  12. First Aid Kits

Assessment

5 x Practical assessments, 1 x Theory assessment (Multiple Choice Question Paper) and continuous formative assessment conducted throughout the course. Upon successful completion, certification is valid for three years*.

Re-qualification

*Under the current guidelines it is strongly recommended that first aid trained staff attend a half-day update every 12 months - before completing their full re-qualification training at the three year point.
