The Level 2 Award in Activity First Aid (RQF) is a regulated and nationally recognised qualification designed for those who have a responsibility to provide first aid in outdoor and activity based environments.

Successful candidates will gain the knowledge and skills needed to treat a range of conditions that could occur during any form of activity, from life threatening illnesses to minor injuries.

Who is it designed for?

The Level 2 Award in Activity First Aid (RQF) qualification has been specifically designed for those who have a responsibility at work, or in voluntary and community activities, to provide first aid when dealing with an emergency situation whilst undertaking activities, such as sports, swimming, hiking, rock climbing etc.

The Activity First Aid Syllabus Includes:

  1. The role and responsibilities of a first aider
  2. Assessing an incident
  3. Managing an unresponsive casualty
  4. CPR and AED use
  5. Recovery Position
  6. Heart Attack
  7. Stroke
  8. Head, neck and back injuries
  9. Chest and abdominal injuries
  10. Fractures
  11. External bleeding
  12. Shock
  13. Burns and scalds
  14. Choking
  15. Poisoning
  16. Anaphylaxis
  17. Asthma
  18. Diabetes
  19. Epilepsy and seizures
  20. Treatment for hot and cold temperatures
  21. Minor injuries
  22. Sprains, strains and dislocations
  23. Eye injuries


6 x Practical assessments and 2 x Theory assessments (Multiple Choice Question Papers). Upon successful completion, certification is valid for three years*.


*Under the current guidelines it is strongly recommended that first aid trained staff attend a half-day update every 12 months - before completing their full re-qualification training at the three year point.
