Throughout the duration of this course, Learners will develop the knowledge and understanding of assessment. Topics covered include: principles and requirements of assessment, how to plan assessments, quality assurance of the assessment process, managing information relating to assessment and more.
This regulated and nationally recognised qualification has been specifically designed to provide Trainee Assessors with the knowledge and understanding of the principles and practices of assessment.
Who is it intended for?
The QA Level 3 Award in Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment (RQF) is ideal for those who are looking for an introduction to the principles and practices of qualification assessment. This qualification may also be suitable for those who are currently performing the role of Assessor for certain vocationally related qualifications (please check the suitability of these qualifications with Primo Aid).
Trainee Assessors may include individuals who currently work in a mentoring/teaching/training capacity and wish to further develop their knowledge and skills of assessment.

- Understanding the principles and practices of assessment
Entry requirements
Trainee assessors must be at least 19 years old on the first day of the training.
Trainee assessors must have access to learners completing vocational qualifications in order to generate the evidence required to complete this qualification.
There are no other formal entry requirements but to benefit from the learning we advise that Trainee assessors have a minimum of Level 2 in literacy and numeracy or equivalent.
Assessment
1 x Learner workbook which include assignments (theory assessment) and continuous formative assessment conducted throughout the course.
Successful Learners will receive a
QA Level 3 Award in Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment (RQF) certificate.
Requalification requirements
It is not a requirement for Trainee assessors to renew this qualification however we recommend they keep up to date with current practice in assessment through regular participation in continuing professional development (CPD).
